Resumo/Abstract: Since the works of M. Porter and G. Becattini in the late 80´s proposing a new approach for collaboration between industry, government and academia to foster more competitive and innovative economic sectors, increasing employment and economic growth, the Cluster model has been taken into the mainstream of regional development by all the countries, and supported by special national programs by the EU and US. In the other side the European model of Industrial Districts found a strong support in the European south with success stories as much as the Clusters. The scope of this seminar is the overview of clusters and districts at work. The seminar will be case base, using the results of EU cluster initiative, US cluster map, FAO agro-clusters study, and some European countries experiences, like Spain, With respect to the Industrial Districts the Italian case with examples will be cover.
