Preferential factors for admission: Knowledge on the spatial and territorial analysis of environmental and socio-economic factors. Training and or experience with the use of tools for spatial analysis and data miming (GIS, Geo-statistics, Machine Learning, Arial Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing) is required. Work Plan:  SUFISA aims to identify practices and policies that support the sustainability of primary producers in a context of complex policy requirements, market imperfections and globalization. Knowledge on market conditions and other driving forces exists, but in a fragmented way: relevant producer groups and regions have not yet been analyzed or framework conditions and driving forces have changed in the mean-time. Moreover, little information is available on cross-linkages between various drivers and future opportunities and threats will need to be integrated for an encompassing analysis. For further information on SUFISA, please visit: http://www.sufisa.eu/index.html

The Research scholar will be mainly focused of the Work Package (WP2), with the case study application in Portugal. The WP2 is devoted to exploring and developing innovative and participatory approaches for the sustainable delivery and financing of agricultural, forestry or fisheries commodities in each case study.

WP2 aims to go beyond the relatively fragmented insights consolidated in WP1 to yield a holistic view on Conditions, Strategies and Performances across commodity sectors and regions. For this, WP2 will use a mixed-method multiple case study approach in three steps.

To help improve the robustness and coherence of the samples of stakeholders and diverse actors to be included in the surveys and focus groups the researcher will prepare and implement a spatial methodology for the selection and discrimination of the most appropriate properties and geographic areas to target. Additionally, the researcher will be collecting the data required for WP2 application.  The researcher is expected to participate in one scientific publication issuing from the WP2 results.
